Police respond to threatening behaviour at Dunedin dairies

A spate of robberies at dairies in Dunedin over recent months has police taking threats and intimidation seriously.

Last night a group of up to three teenagers targeted the Lookout Point Food Centre just hours after an attempted robbery at the Halfway Bush convenience store.

Snow warnings for southern highways

Recent road snow warnings from Metservice have been updated.

The Lindis Pass road may face 1 to 2cm of snow accumulation near the summit, especially around the early afternoon.

Occasional snow showers are likely to affect the summit of the Dunedin to Waitati Highway road into the afternoon.

Until 4pm, 1 to 2cm of snow may accumulate on the road above 300 metres.

Elderly man rescued from house fire

Police said that no one was injured when the offender entered the store and threatened a person there at 7.50 this morning,

Jewel thief arrested

Police have today arrested a 40-year-old female in relation to three recent aggravated robberies in Dunedin.

The first robbery was at McAuliffe Jewellers on June 6th.

The other two both occurred last Friday at the Elgin Foodmarket and Todd Antiques.

Police says they're extremely pleased to have made the arrest so quickly and are thanking the public for their assistance.
