Invercargill residents are being enticed into the city centre by a new gastronomic initiative.

Food Truck Fridays are being held at Wachner Place.

The Invercargill City Council is behind the concept, hoping to get more people out and about.

Today was the second of five consecutive Food Truck Fridays, offering a wide range of food including burgers, doughnuts, spiral potatoes and paella.

Trucks and stalls are open in the centre city courtyard from 10am until 4pm.

Vendors estimate over 300 people attended today's market despite the average weather.

Customers seem happy with the extra lunch options and vibrant atmosphere.
