The Queenstown Lakes District Council is using its Navigation Safety bylaw to exclude boats from an area of Lake Hawea near where the Disney movie A Wrinkle in Time is being shot.

The Neck is one of the few places boaties can safely launch their boats on Lake Hawea, but this morning it became part of an exclusion zone set up by the council, citing safety reasons.
