Netball team the Southern Steel showed their mettle this week.

Members of the team were in an accident involving the team's van on Monday - which injured four players.

However the team managed to dig deep and beat the Mainland Tactix midweek, by 51 to 46 in Christchurch.

Southern Steel assistant coach Lauren Piebenga says the players demonstrated strength in overcoming such adversity to remain the only unbeaten team in the league.

The team's next game is on Monday against the Central Pulse.
